On day one of your island adventure, arrive in Sri Lanka and head to Negombo where you can be provided with a full-body check-up at a nearby reputable hospital for 50% off. After checking into your lodging, relax and enjoy the sunny aspect of Sri Lanka. Take some time out of your day to tour the city where you can see sights such as St. Mary’s Church in the heart of the city which saw completion in 1922.
Head to Polonnaruwa on day two, making a few stops along the way. Pay a visit to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, home to a variety of Asian elephants that receive care in this facility. Return to your trip and make your second stop at Sigiriya where you can climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress if time allows, to see the frescoes as well as the throne which sits at the top of the almost 200-metre rock. Finally, arrive in Polonnaruwa where you can check into your hotel for the night.
Dedicate day three to find out the mysteries of Polonnaruwa by taking a tour of the city. Come across ancient relics and ruins that tell the tale of this ancient city which was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the fall of Anuradhapura. After this educational tour, pack your bags and head to Kandy, another ancient city.
On the fourth day, you can see some of Sri Lanka’s most famous sites in Kandy. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is a breathtaking site that is adored by both residents and visitors. Take in this stunning architecture. To see the Botanical Gardens’ breathtaking scenery, travel to Peradeniya. The sight is breathtaking. Buy some of the traditional crafts that have been around for a long time like wood carvings, gems, silks and batiks.
On the fifth day, leave early and travel to Nuwara Eliya. It is located in Sri Lanka’s central hills. Because of its cooler climate compared to most of the country, it is a popular vacation spot for locals. Tea bushes can be seen adorning Nuwara Eliyas hills. This makes for a beautiful sight with glimpses of the vibrant colours of the tea plucker’s sarees. Get a taste of fresh tea by touring a factory and a plantation. Return to Kandy and spend the night there.
Head to the southern coast for leisurely activities and enjoyable water sports. When you reach the Galle you can observe Asia’s best-preserved sea fort. Enjoy the views of the blue sea extending into the horizon while spending some time at the beach.
Take advantage of this day to travel around and see the historical sites, surf the waters or dive into the sea to observe coral reefs and marine life. On the southern coast, there’s always something entertaining to do.
Say goodbye to the southern coast and head for Colombo. This contemporary city offers a plethora of breathtaking sights and exciting nightlife. When you arrive in Colombo, go to the town and explore the area where you can eat and shop. You can travel to areas with vibrant nightlife at night.
